SYNOPSIS
On November 29, 2004, the Municipality of Infanta was caught by surprise by the flashflood brought by Typhoon Winnie, which dumped 18 days’ amount of rain.
In the fifth episode of Galing Pook, let us take a look at how the people of Infanta recovered from the tragedy, and how the experience served as a wake up call for the people and the local government to ensure that the municipality is always prepared for disasters, through their community-based disaster preparedness program.
We also take a look at how Infanta, together with the municipalities of Real, Gen. Nakar, and Panukulan worked together to address the trauma brought by the disaster upon affected individuals and families, with their community-based mental and psychosocial health management program, and how the program has been expanded to help other beneficiaries.
