I have been a producer and editor of award-winning investigative documentaries in the United States and abroad. I started my journalism career with the renowned Probe Productions, pioneer of the longest-running investigative documentary program in the Philippines where I produced and co-edited at least 20 full-length documentaries and television feature shows for national and international broadcast. One of the first documentaries I produced, "Johnny: A Juan Ponce Enrile Story", an in-depth profile of the administrator of Martial Law in the Philippines during the Marcos dictatorship, won a Silver World Medal at the New York Film Festivals in 2013. My work with Probe compelled me to move to the United States to pursue my master’s in journalism at the University of California at Berkeley. I have since worked for various hyperlocal digital media outlets, independent documentaries, and non-profit organizations. Most currently, I am a reporter for the digital news site, Mission Local, in San Francisco where I write stories, analyze data, and curate news content for daily publication. My current assignment mostly revolves around COVID-related data and political reporting, while still covering news on business and housing. I have also worked at the Investigative Reporting Program as a producer, reporter, and video editor. I focused on investigating the labor trafficking of children into the United States, on military accountability and spending, and on criminal convictions of California police officers. "Trafficked in America," a film I associate produced, was nominated for the 2019 Goldsmith Prize for Investigative Reporting. I also edited "Hale" that won the Student Academy Award for Documentary 2017 and was a contender for the Oscar for Best Short Documentary and BAFTA awards in 2018.
